The West Bottoms Backyard Barbeque brings together pitmasters, backyard legends, and BBQ lovers for a weekend of smoke, fire, and friendly competition in one of Kansas City's most iconic neighborhoods. Set against the backdrop of the historic West Bottoms during Heritage Days, this is more than a cookoff — it's a celebration of KC's deep barbeque roots.

Setup begins at noon. Pork ribs take center stage with two turn-ins at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Show us what you've got with one meat, two chances to shine.
May 16, 2026
Two meats — chicken and pork ribs — with turn-ins at 12:00 PM (Noon) for chicken and 12:30 PM for ribs. The full backyard experience.
Note: There are three separate contests during this packed weekend (two burns on Friday, one on Saturday). Teams can enter one or all three.
Over $8,200 in total cash prizes across three KCBS-sanctioned contests.
